Caribou, the electronic music project led by Dan Snaith, released the single “Broke My Heart” as part of his 2024 album Honey. This track has been described as a poignant, melodic exploration of heartbreak, combining drifting, ethereal electronics with a gripping synth line and a soft, reflective vocal melody. Snaith has stated that the song came to him almost fully formed, an unusual occurrence in his creative process. He described the experience as “sitting down at a piano one day, and the string riff was just there at my fingertips and the vocal melody followed right behind it”.

“Broke My Heart” has received praise for its emotional resonance and minimalist production style, which contrasts delicate melodies against a backdrop of intricate soundscapes, creating an atmosphere that feels both introspective and expansive. The track captures the raw emotions of heartbreak, while the subdued, dream-like instrumentation adds a sense of weightlessness and vulnerability to the composition

As part of the Honey album, “Broke My Heart” serves as a standout moment that complements the other tracks, reflecting Caribou’s continued evolution in sound and storytelling. The song’s intimate nature makes it a powerful addition to Snaith’s catalog, resonating deeply with both long-time fans and new listeners alike.
